Flex Builder 3 and Subversion

May 14th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Coding, Flex, adobe, as3gaming, news

Are you using Flex Builder 3 from adobe but want to integrate Subversion? Check out the latest article on as3gaming.com, helpfully titled Flex Builder 3 And Subversion.

From the Article:

Setting up Flex Builder 3 with a Subversion client, like Subversive or Subeclipse is easy. Since Flex Builder 3 is built on Eclipse, it comes with built-in support for just about any plugin that works with Eclipse which makes Adobe’s move to go to with an Eclipse based IDE a smart one.

This tutorial assumes that you already have subversion installed on a server somewhere, or on your local machine.

Introducing as3gaming.com - The Actionscript Game Development Wiki

May 13th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in as3gaming, news, welcome

We’d like to proudly introduce the newly launched as3gaming.com - the actionscript game development wiki. I know I recently said that the new set of resources would be similar to the CakePHP Bakery, but after playing around with it, a MediaWiki similar to Wikipedia seemed to fit the bill better.

So what is the as3gaming.com wiki? From the site:

The focus of as3gaming.com is Actionscript and Flash gaming development, news, and reviews. Quite Simply, we believe that the future of gaming for many people will be the browser. Whether you’re building a casual flash game, or a rich AAA title, as3gaming.com is the place to get help, share your knowledge, and discuss your projects.

That about says it all. What kind of articles can you write in the as3gaming.com wiki? Anything pertaining to flash and actionscript, but with a preference for content specific to gaming. That means feel free to write Tutorials, How Tos, Game Reviews, source code, a description of your project, etc. When in doubt, just create it - we’ll be moderating the content to keep it on topic and spam free.

Go check it out! And if you have any suggestions on how we can make it better, shoot me an email at admin [ at] as3gaming.com

Redesign and the Beginning of New Resources

May 6th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in as3gaming, news

We’ve just recently redesigned as3gaming and moved the blog to the subdomain news.as3gaming.com - hope you like it.

We’re also going to be adding some new resources to the site in the near future, so stay tuned. Among them will be a forum run by the spectacular bbpress from the guys that did wordpress. Since we’re looking to have a unified feel through the entire site we’re going to try and integrate the bbpress theme with this theme as much as possible.

There’s a good tutorial on how to do this on adityanaik.com.

As for other updates, those of you familiar with cakephp are probably big fans of the Bakery. Our goal is to create a bakery-type application at as3gaming.com that’s centered around actionscript 3, flash/flex, and gaming specifically.

Anyone want to help us build it? :) Contact me at arrgo [at ] as3gaming [dot] com.
